Start a new adventure with us this summer…
This year’s Series Starter Summer Sessions invite junior high and high school readers to dive into the first book of four unforgettable series—each one opening the door to a bigger world. Guided by Mr. and Mrs. A, students will explore how great authors hook our imaginations from page one, introducing characters, conflicts, and themes that echo across an entire series.
Join us for 4 lively, thoughtful sessions on Thursdays at 1:00 PM Eastern (10:00 AM Pacific) according to the schedule below:
July 16th: The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt
Seventh-grader Holling Hoodhood thinks his teacher is out to get him—but instead he gets pulled into Shakespeare, mystery, and a year that changes everything. It’s funny, surprising, and full of moments that make you feel like growing up might actually be an adventure.
July 23rd: The Crime at Black Dudley by Margery Allingham
A quiet house party turns into a terrifying puzzle when a deadly game goes wrong and secrets start spilling out. With danger lurking in every room, one clever guest must untangle the mystery before it’s too late.
July 30th: The 100 Cupboards by N.D. Wilson
When Henry discovers a wall in his uncle’s house filled with strange cupboards, he realizes each one opens to a different world—and some of those worlds are dangerous. What starts as curiosity turns into a race to stop something evil from breaking through.
August 6th: Eragon by Christopher Paolini
A farm boy finds a mysterious stone that hatches into a dragon, launching him into a hidden world of magic, battles, and destiny. Suddenly, Eragon isn’t just a kid anymore—he might be the only one who can save an entire kingdom.
