History Habits:  Seven Principles for Thinking "Christianly" About the Past

history habits

In this inspiring two-hour DVD lecture, university professor Tracy McKenzie asks, "Can the study of history promote a heart of wisdom?"

The answer is a resounding yes - if we approach it rightly.

Using sound biblical reasoning, McKenzie presents seven principles for thinking christianly about the past -- habits of heart and mind to cultivate and nurture.  He then illustrates their application with three examples from U.S. history, examining the debate over slavery before the Civil War, the influence of Christianity on the Constitution, and the story of the Pilgrims and the First Thanksgiving.

Dr. McKenzie warns that history is often misused by well-meaning Christians, but encourages us to believe that, when approached correctly, it has lessons to teach us that we may never have imagined.

The result is a challenging vision that will be of interest to Christian teachers, home school educators, students of all levels and life long learners.
