The Classics Club: Huckleberry Finn
The Classics Club:
Huckleberry Finn brings Mark Twain's immortal tale of adventure to
life for sixth through tenth graders. Adam leads the group in a
discussion of such themes as manhood, loyalty, racism, religion,
conscience and the nature of good and evil. The class includes
helpful discussions of symbolism, irony and the difference between
setting and context.
The Classics Club is a stand-alone literature class for students in grades 5 through 10 and beyond. It also provides the perfect refresher for parents and teachers preparing to give classes of their own.
A syllabus notebook (available below) provides a place for the student or teacher to make notes and also includes a biographical sketch of the author, as well as a blank story chart and suggestions for essay assignments drawn from the class discussion.
